A same-game parlay void leg does not establish that the whole stake comes back. Betfair's Bet Builder help page says a ticket with one void selection continues at the combined price of the remaining legs. The remaining selections still need to settle successfully for a winning return.
That is a rule for a named product, not a promise about every same-game parlay. This guide uses Betfair's English-language pages reviewed on 24 October 2026. It explains how to reconstruct a ticket, not which selections to combine. Availability and terms depend on the product, location and channel. No betting account, price feed or payout was tested.
Identify the combination before changing the price
Same-game parlay is a general description for several selections tied to one fixture and offered as a combined wager. Bet Builder is Betfair's product name. A slip containing several rows does not, by appearance alone, establish whether those rows form one same-match combination, separate singles or part of a wider multiple.
The general Sportsbook rules, under Multiples, separate Fixed Odds Multiples from Same Game Multiples and limit that section's treatment to the former. Its familiar example of a treble becoming a double is therefore not enough to determine a Bet Builder return.
Our ordinary accumulator void-leg guide covers independent, separate-event prices. Here the extra question is what combined price applies after the same-match selection has been removed. Preserve the product label on the accepted receipt before using any calculator.
Why dividing by a leg's standalone odds can fail
Betfair's Bet Types explanation describes related contingencies as selections where one outcome can affect the price of another. Its ordinary multiple product can reject such combinations. A dedicated same-game product should not be reverse-engineered as though its accepted combined quote were necessarily the product of unrelated single prices.
Consider a fictional football fixture with selections on a home win and a home team scoring at least twice. A 2-0 result satisfies both; a 1-0 result satisfies only the first. They describe overlapping aspects of the same match. This observation does not supply a numerical probability, fair price or betting advantage.
Suppose a fictional three-selection ticket originally displayed combined decimal odds of 6.20. Another screen showed the subsequently voided selection as a single at 2.00. Dividing 6.20 by 2.00 gives 3.10, but the calculation only proves that division was performed. It does not prove 3.10 is the contractual price for the remaining combination.
The missing input is the product's applicable residual combined price. Neither the original total nor an isolated single quote establishes that input without a rule or pricing record connecting them. A generic accumulator calculator can perform correct arithmetic on the wrong kind of ticket.
A cash example with the missing input supplied
Use an invented £12 cash stake. Assume the product's void rule keeps the ticket active and its settlement record supplies a residual decimal price of 3.45. This price is a teaching input, not a Betfair quote or an estimate of what its system would produce. Also assume no fee, promotion, deduction or payout restriction changes the figures.
| Alternative final position | Price or condition used | Gross return | Net result against £12 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Remaining selections all win | Invented combined price 3.45 | £41.40 | £29.40 |
| A required remaining selection loses | Continuing combination loses | £0.00 | -£12.00 |
| A required remaining selection is unresolved | Final result still missing | Not yet payable | Not final |
| Entire ticket is confirmed void under its applicable rule | Original cash stake returned | £12.00 | £0.00 |
The winning row is £12 × 3.45 = £41.40, including the stake. Subtract £12 to obtain £29.40 profit. There is no extra £12 refund on top of that gross return. The last row is a conditional whole-ticket comparison, not a claim that Betfair's one-void-leg clause produces that outcome.
The original 6.20 figure would have implied a conditional £74.40 return if the original combination won. It is not a debt owed after its conditions change. The unsupported 3.10 division would instead produce £37.20, £4.20 below the invented 3.45 example. That difference exposes the consequence of choosing a price; it does not measure a real underpayment.
Separate void eligibility from ticket treatment
Before changing a combined price, establish whether the selection was actually graded void. An unused substitute, a late appearance and an early injury can have different consequences under a player market's participation condition. Our player-prop participation guide owns that question. It does not supply the residual price for this ticket.
A void selection also does not automatically erase an otherwise losing selection. Removing one requirement and satisfying the requirements that remain are separate steps. The cash table assumes the surviving combination's final grades are known; a provisional potential return is not an available withdrawal.
Read any boost, free-bet or protection terms separately. The example concerns cash only and does not calculate promotional credit. If a Bet Builder is itself placed inside a wider multiple, retain the record of both levels. A change within the same-match component and the treatment of the outer ticket are not interchangeable calculations.
Ask for the record that explains the credit
For an unexplained same-game settlement, retain:
- The accepted ticket ID, product name, stake type and complete combination.
- The voided selection's grading and the clause that made it void.
- The remaining selections' final statuses and the combined price applied to them.
- The account credit and any explanation of a later correction.
Ask the operator to connect those records, including how it obtained the residual combined price. An old screenshot of a single's odds is not a substitute for that explanation. Our sportsbook settlement guide follows the wider chain from accepted terms to the account entry.
Frequently asked questions
Does one void leg cancel every same-game parlay?
No universal outcome follows from the label. Betfair's cited Bet Builder page keeps the combination active with the remaining combined price. Another product's accepted rules must be checked on their own terms. Establish the product and actual grading before treating a ticket as fully void or calculating a surviving return.
Can I divide the original price by the void leg's odds?
Not merely because a single price is visible elsewhere. A same-match combination can contain related outcomes, so the accepted combined price need not factor into those standalone quotes. Obtain the applicable residual price and rule first. The division in this guide is an illustration of an unsupported input, not a settlement method.
Is the reduced potential return already money owed?
It still depends on the outstanding required selections and applicable terms. In the fictional table, £41.40 becomes the gross winning return only when the remaining combination wins at the assumed 3.45 price. Pending results, promotional conditions and account corrections cannot be resolved from a potential-return display alone.
Understanding a reprice does not reduce the chance of losing the stake. Gambling is for adults where legal and can cause financial harm. See our responsible-gambling information for further context.
