Source Policy
How BETTIMES selects, evaluates, cites and preserves the evidence behind reporting and structured intelligence.
Source hierarchy
We prefer primary evidence and use secondary reporting to add context, surface leads or represent independent analysis. A secondary article is not a substitute for an available filing, regulator notice or original dataset.
Evidence records
- Source URL and publisher
- Source type and access date
- The fact or claim the source supports
- Verification date and confidence
- Notes, conflicts and unresolved questions
Anonymous sources
Anonymous sourcing is reserved for information that serves a clear public-interest or industry-intelligence purpose and cannot reasonably be obtained on the record. The publication must understand the source's identity, access and possible motives.
Links and preservation
We link as directly as practical to the material supporting a claim. Where permitted and useful, source snapshots or archive links may be retained internally to protect the evidence trail from link rot.
