The UK Gambling Commission reported £17.5 billion in gross gambling yield (GGY) for Great Britain's customer-facing gambling industry in April 2025–March 2026, including reported lotteries. Excluding those lotteries, the published total was £13.2 billion. BETTIMES Release 01 is a small, fixed, source-linked CSV of 11 headline and sector figures from the regulator's 17 September 2026 annual report. It is a transcription of the rounded values on the public report page, not a new estimate or a replacement for the regulator's full Excel workbook.

Download the fixed CSV release. The file path contains its release ID so later corrections can get a new version without silently changing this one. Researchers needing greater precision, historical series or every product category should use the UK Gambling Commission annual report and its XLSX source file.

What is in the downloadable GB gambling revenue dataset?

Each CSV row has a stable `metric_id`, group, segment, relationship to a parent total, published numeric value, published unit, period dates, source publication date, source URL and note. There are 11 rows. The source is one official report, so 11 rows do not mean 11 independent sources. “Published value” means the display precision on that report page; `17.5` with `GBP billion` is a rounded published figure, not an exact £17,500,000,000 measurement.

Published measureReported GGYRelationship
Industry, including reported lotteries£17.5bnAll-sector total
Industry, excluding reported lotteries£13.2bnSubset of all-sector total
Remote casino, betting and bingo£8.3bnPart of non-lottery total
Land-based arcades, betting, bingo and casino£4.9bnPart of non-lottery total
Online casino£5.7bnPart of remote total
Online slots£4.8bnPart of online casino
Remote betting£2.4bnPart of remote total
Remote bingo£147.8mPart of remote total

These figures are published by the Commission. The CSV also includes the published non-remote casino (£933.9m), non-remote bingo (£703.8m) and arcade (£800.1m) figures. We did not fill a lottery row by subtracting two rounded totals; doing so would create an apparently precise value the source page does not publish in that form.

Definition and coverage

The regulator says its Industry Statistics cover GGY made by licensed operators from gambling customers in Great Britain across customer-facing sectors, based on operator returns. Its definition of GGY is broadly stakes and directly related amounts accruing to a licensee, less prizes or winnings, subject to the detailed rule in that definition. GGY is not the same as customer deposits, betting turnover, operator profit or net gaming revenue after all commercial costs. The BETTIMES GGR, GGY and NGR guide explains the metric boundary.

The release is not a global gambling revenue dataset and does not include unlicensed activity. It does not state that every British resident gambled, nor does it measure consumer harm. The geographical label refers to the regulator's published scope, not where every corporate parent is registered. The Great Britain market profile describes the regulatory context separately from this financial series.

Method: a fixed extract, not a reconstructed model

We transcribed figures that appear on the regulator's HTML annual-report page, kept the unit exactly as displayed and attached that same source URL to every row. We assigned parent relationships from the report's sector headings. We did not calculate shares, growth rates or missing sector values for the file. We also did not combine the quarterly operator-data series with the annual Industry Statistics series.

The Commission notes that regulatory returns changed in July 2024, including harmonised reporting quarters. That change matters when building a longer time series. Our file covers one financial year only. For a multi-year calculation, read the official data workbook and its methodology before aligning periods. The accompanying BETTIMES comparison note lists common traps.

How to use and cite the file

Use `metric_id` to join the same named measure across future BETTIMES releases, but do not assume a future version will use the same source precision or unchanged sector definition. Before making a chart, filter to a non-overlapping level: the two top-level totals, the remote-versus-land-based split, or the remote subsegments. Never sum all rows.

Suggested citation: BETTIMES, Great Britain Gambling Revenue Dataset: FY 2025–26, Release 01 (2026-09-24-r01), transcribed from UK Gambling Commission Industry Statistics published 17 September 2026. Attribute the underlying measurement to the Commission. The CSV is a convenience extract with explicit scope and should not be cited as if BETTIMES collected operator returns.

The sportsbook hold explainer is useful when translating betting stakes into a yield concept; it should not be used to recalculate UKGC sector totals from this CSV, because the file does not contain the corresponding stake denominator.

Frequently asked questions

Is £17.5 billion the revenue of online casinos alone?

No. It is the published GGY total for the customer-facing gambling industry in Great Britain, including all reported lotteries. The annual report separately gives £5.7 billion for online casino GGY. The categories have different scopes, and the online-casino amount sits within the remote sector.

Can I add online slots to online casino?

No. The report says £4.8 billion of the £5.7 billion online-casino GGY came from slots. Adding the two would count slots twice. The CSV marks slots as a subset of online casino; the `relationship` field should be read before any aggregation.

Why are some values in billions and others in millions?

The extract preserves the display unit and rounding used on the regulator's HTML report. A value shown as £2.4 billion is not silently converted to an apparently precise million-pound figure. The full official workbook may offer further detail and should be used when precise arithmetic is required.

Does the CSV include operator-level revenue?

No. The annual Industry Statistics page reports aggregated sector figures. This extract contains no operator names, market shares or financial forecasts. The operator evidence tracker answers a different question: which brand and licence relationships BETTIMES can document.

Bottom line

This fixed release makes a limited set of UKGC figures easier to cite and reuse without hiding the hierarchy or published precision. Download the CSV for a sector snapshot; use the official workbook for a fuller analysis, and keep the reporting period, unit and lottery coverage visible in every chart.
