The Netherlands' Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) is launching a Gokstop awareness campaign aimed especially at young adults experiencing gambling problems or at increased risk of harm. Its message centres on deciding to stop during everyday life, without waiting for a dramatic event.
The regulator's 2 November announcement places the launch in early November. It does not specify the exact starting day.
An everyday decision
The slogan “Elk moment is een Gokstop-moment” means every moment can be a moment to stop gambling. Relatives are also part of the intended audience: KSA says they can help someone take the first step.
Earlier Gokstop campaigns emphasised life after taking a break. This campaign shifts attention to the decision itself, using recognisable situations to make that step feel more approachable. The announcement describes the campaign's aims but provides no measured results.
For readers comparing the practical tools behind such messages, BetTimes' guide to national self-exclusion registers explains how Dutch Cruks and other national systems differ in coverage and operation.
A separate conversation for parents
KSA is also launching an OpenOverGokken campaign for parents of people aged 16–25. It encourages them to discuss gambling before a particular concern prompts the conversation. The age range describes the campaign's family audience; it does not establish an age at which gambling is permitted.
That campaign builds on OpenOverGokken.nl, the information platform launched in 2025. Both campaigns concern awareness and conversations about gambling harm. The announcement introduces no change to a self-exclusion register or licensing rule.
The new campaigns follow KSA's separate guidance on gambling coverage in the media. Readers seeking support can use the country-specific resources on BetTimes' responsible gambling page.
